Jun 12, 2018 As we come to the end of this review of Studio One 4 it feels like the dedication sections of a radio show, you hope you've not missed anyone out, but inevitably you do. There are plenty of new features in Studio One 4 to satisfy both existing users and those considering Studio One as their next DAW. Studio One 4.5.5 Announced - New Feature. Aug 14, 2018 While Studio One 4 doesn’t add any all-new instruments to its roster, it does comprehensively overhaul the Impact drum machine and Sample One sampler, adding the ‘XT’ suffix to both and giving their UIs a very welcome lick of digital paint. Impact XT is a massive improvement on its rudimentary MPC-style forebear. San Diego Troubadour Studio One 4.5 and ATOM review, part 2 “Pairing ATOM with a Digital Audio Workstation as deeply featured and user friendly as Studio One Professional 4.5 creates a creative environment as formidable and affordable as any I can imagine.” Sven-Erik Seaholm, San Diego Troubadour, July 2019.
With over 70 new features in Studio One 4.5 it’s easy to miss some of the smaller things that can really help improve your workflow.
During a recent call with top mixer and producer James Reynolds he exclaimed ‘PreSonus has given me the spring loaded folders I’ve been asking for and it’s one of my favourite new features!”
- Jul 11, 2019 Studio One 4.5 Review (From a Cubase User) I've been a Cubase user for years, and I love the software. But that doesn't always keep my curiosity from getting the better of me when it comes to Presonus's Studio One! This is a DAW i've kept my eyes on over the years, as it's still fairly new in the scheme of other digital audio workstations.
- Sep 18, 2019 I still regularly use Studio One Version 2. Incredibly stable and a MUCH better GUI. That said, I'm currently running 4.5 as well. When clients are here it's V2 all the way, still. Well, for the times I'm not running PTHD with clients present. Mastering, mostly. That lack of Project automation has been a request since V2. What a huge hole.
Audio Interfaces Some of the best-selling USB audio/MIDI interfaces in the world.; Monitoring Manage your monitor speakers, and feed your headphones with our professional studio products. With PreSonus, you’re in control of your system! Mixers Streamlined working environments for both live and studio. With the fundamentals covered in previous versions, Studio One 4 branches out to explore new creative possibilities. For me, version 3 marked the moment when Studio One caught up with the competition. PreSonus had ticked all the boxes, appropriated all the features, and designed an interface that.
We asked him to show us what he meant and lo and behold there’s a small but extremely useful new feature that gives spring loaded plugin lists when opening them from the track inspector. Watch the video to see what we mean.
To set this up you need to go to the new plugin options in advanced settings in Preferences, see it in the video. Set it to Basic and then you’ll find you have spring loaded plugin menus if you prefer them. Some may prefer the other option, hence it being a preference setting… the clue is in the name. ;)
It’s just one of the many features included in Studio One 4.5 that improves workflow Studio One users!

Impact XT is part drum machine, part polyrhythmic playground, and goes beyond any traditional rhythm sequencer setup. Its performance and composition-oriented features, like real-time loop stretching, choke groups, beat quantization, and seamless integration with Patterns, make building complex, evolving beats both easy and enthralling.
Studio One’s pattern editor takes the often too-repetitive and mechanical step-by-step instrument sequencer and humanizes it. This allows you to make your sequences different lengths, expand and compress your patterns, determine the chance that some notes will play, and more. Patterns integrate with Impact XT, so you can see how your drums and melodic parts interact.
Sample instruments, vocals, objects, or anything nearby with the touch of a button. Slice longer samples automatically or manually, stretch timing to match tempo, and add effects. Reverse, re-pitch, or otherwise re-imagine your captured sounds any way you wish.
Studio One Professional now includes Melodyne Essentials, an industry-leading pitch-correction plugin. It’s fully integrated with the DAW, so you can quickly tune vocals and get pro-level pitch-correction without transferring audio or opening a separate plugin.

Studio One 4.5 Review 2
“When I opened up Studio One, it was extremely intuitive…I was able to recreate my entire Logic tracking template in Studio One without googling a thing.”
“It's a great DAW for musicians like me because I can effortlessly flow from initial track idea to finished master without it getting in the way of my creativity. It’s incredibly intuitive and a pure joy to use, but is still powerful enough to handle everything I can think of throwing at it.”
